This past Wednesday, the biggest night of the year in entrepreneurship in Dallas went down at the Hilton Anatole. No ties were allowed (everyone seemed to get the memo) and the laid-back world of entrepreneurs came together to celebrate the accomplishments of 2015 and look forward to what was coming next. From Between Two Palms (similar to Between Two Ferns) to recaps of local success stories and monster exits, The State of Entrepreneurship had it all. If you weren’t there, you missed out.
There’s no way to fully grasp the energy of what an open bar and a room full of optimistic entrepreneurs can bring. Some of these statistics about what’s truly happening in our entrepreneurial community may come close. Here are some highlights:
- In Dallas, 68% of entrepreneurs believe our best days are ahead of us (me included!). Only 18% felt the opposite.
- Dallasinnovates.com, a new site dedicated to the stories of entrepreneurs making a difference in our lives, is set to launch on Tuesday, December 17.
- Two big players in town funded companies at simply amazing numbers. RevTech Accelerator and Trailblazer Capital have combined to fund more than 125 companies so far in 2015.
- Dallas-Fort Worth-based angel investors funded 35 startups with a total of $213.5 million in capital in the first 9 months of 2015, a number so impressive it almost seems unreasonable.
Thanks to all of the fantastic sponsors of the event. Let’s finish 2015 strong and get ready for a 2016 that promises to be the best year yet!
